About H&B Jewelry and Loan Company
 
H&B Jewelry and Loan Company was established in 1948 by Lou Tobin. He had just returned from chasing Hitler around Europe and was ready to settle down and start a family. Although Lou had no formal education, he developed a philosophy "Be fair with your customers, give them bargains and treat them with dignity and they will remain your customers forever." That philosophy is still in place. We are honored by generations of good customers and friends of H&B, and we remember they are the reason we are here.
 
H&B has been a member of the National Pawnbroker's Association since 1989, and is indeed Oregon's oldest licensed pawnbroker. For decades we have specialized in fine diamonds and fine jewelry, as a member of the Jeweler's Board of Trade for over twenty years. We also belong to the JCK and the Oregon State Jewelers Association, and have for more than twenty years.
 
In 1970, Phil Tobin (Lou's son) came into the company adding his own new dimension to an already thriving business. Phil has been at the helm for the past 35 years, moving the company into the 21st century with a standard that is unequaled in the pawn industry.
 
Today, over 60 years later, with two locations, and a third generation, H&B Jewelry and Loan has become the oldest state licensed pawnbroker in Oregon. Although specializing in jewelry, H&B handles everything you would expect to find in a well-run organized pawnshop. Jewelry, cameras, musical instruments, electronics, tools, long guns and much more. The company averages over 200 loans per day and has a staff of professionals all eager to help you.
